Loose Thread

Maybe at some point this song will be tidied up and packaged for commercial use, but as of now it is raw and messy. In September of 2013, a high school friend of mine passed away after a painful battle with cancer. He was only 33 years-old and left behind a beautiful wife and two young boys. His widow has kept a blog. Her writing is courageous and vulnerable. She talks of their love, its truth, its purity. She writes openly about her pain, her anger, her overwhelming grief and finding the strength to get out of bed.

This song is my attempt to help carry her grief for a moment. It's a tribute to true love. It's a safe place to cry.

Loose Thread

I never doubted you
I always knew
No question in my mind
You were the easiest
Part of my life

Now that you’ve gone

There are no words to say

I wish I had seen it coming

Wish I’d known the signs

I would have pleaded

I would have have bargained

I would have stop it at the boarder of our lives

But but we were blindsided

It came out of nowhere

I could’t have prepared for all that we saw

I din’t know it

is possible

to hurt so much

Now that you’ve gone away

There are no words to say

I’m hanging by a loose thread

I’m unraveled

I’m sitting in a pile on the floor

I have no place I belong to

without you here

And I’m trying to determine

Who this woman is before me

In the mirror

I’m unrecognizable

and I wonder what you’d see

Would you be proud me

Would you tell me

That I’m doing the best I can

Cause you always did

I could rely on

Your voice cheering me on

Now that you’ve gone away

There’s nothing left to say

I never doubted you

I always knew

No question in my mind
