Hello friends,
First of all, I want to thank you for taking time to read my last update. Many of you wrote back and hearing from you meant so much! Some of you I hadn't heard from in years and I honestly had no idea you were still listening. What fun to find out you're still getting my emails and to catch up after so long!
Second, today marks the first of March and the end of FAWM. You're probably thinking Tara what in the world is FAWM?
FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month. With FAWM the goal is to write an album in a month, along with a collaborative community of musicians worldwide.
I participated in FAWM for the first time in 2008 and after experiencing the energy, passion, and encouragement of this incredible online songwriting community I was hooked! I've participated each year since with varying degrees of commitment and success.
I didn't reach 14 songs this year but feel really good about the handful of songs I came away with. The focus, accountability, and community that FAWM provides songwriters, were just what I needed to kick-start my creative process after such a long hiatus.
You can listen to all of my FAWM 2018 demos here, as well as read the lyrics and any liner notes. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these new songs.
With FAWM behind me, I'll be shifting my focus to the album and booking shows. For those of you not in the Portland area or who simply prefer not to leave your home, don't worry, I will come to you. Watch for scheduled internet broadcasts as well as spontaneous live streams, like the one I did yesterday via Instagram.
