Lyrics by Liz Petty
Music written and preformed by Tara Craig

Liz’s notes:
Yeah, so true.
The big deal in my home town was the bowling alley on Main Street. Plesheck’s Bowling alley. My first kiss with Mike M in 5th grade was in the basement of that bowling alley.. so many winter weekends and after school afternoons and nights at the bowling alley...so many life lessons... everyone knew everyone ... imagine my happiness to find a small town mom and pop bowling alley that serves breakfast near where I live... it is such a lovely contrast to my usual Starbucks or Caribou Coffee mornings...

Tara’s notes:
When I read these lyrics I was drawn into the scene they painted. Recorded in one take. Not in love with this performance but I told myself I’d be more lenient with demos this year. So here ya go.

Lyrics

V1
smells of stale popcorn
musty shoes and flat beer
the clatter of pins falling
and TVs everywhere
the ambiance may not be
right to start your day
but it is perfect for me
in almost every way...

C
it’s Sunday morning breakfast
at the bowling alley bar
where you can be any one
exactly the way you are
there’s no pretentious people
sipping fancy latte drinks
just plates of comfort food
with homemade sausage links

V2
I have a spinach omelette
with cheesy hash browns
cups of strong black coffee
wash everything down
a guy two stools away
has fried walleye with a pint
in his Green Bay Packers cap
and sweatshirt that’s too tight

C
it’s Sunday morning breakfast
at the bowling alley bar
where you can be any one
exactly the way you are
there’s no pretentious people
sipping fancy latte drinks
just plates of comfort food
with homemade sausage links

B
oh the bowling alley always makes me
feel so right at home
as in Wisconsin where I grew up
it was the only place to go

C
it’s Sunday morning breakfast
at the bowling alley bar
where you can be any one
exactly the way you are
there’s no pretentious people
sipping fancy latte drinks
just plates of comfort food
with homemade sausage links
